S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 A technical cooperation agreement was signed this Monday (15) by the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais government, in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, to implement activities to expand business between the state and the Arab countries. The agreement involves the Minas Gerais Economic Development Secretariat (SEDE), the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (FIEMG), the Belo Horizonte Shopkeepers Chamber (CDL\/BH), the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC), and the Cdial Halal certifier. The event was also a welcome and homage to the governor of Minas Gerais (pictured above)<\/em>, Romeu Zema.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, followed by a dinner, part of the Minas Gerais business mission in the UAE to prospect business, received information about halal certification and the opportunities it could generate for companies in the Arab and Muslim market. The state of Minas Gerais has brought a delegation of around 200 business people to the UAE. When a product is halal certified, it has been made according to Islamic standards and is fit for consumption by Muslims. About 100 people attended the event at the Paramount Hotel, among them businesspeople from Minas Gerais in the food and beverage sectors.<\/p>\n

The Marketing vice president of the ABCC, Riad Younes, represented the institution at the event alongside the New Business director, Daniella Leite. Younes spoke about the importance of the UAE for Brazil. Last year, Brazil exported USD 2 billion in goods to the country and imported USD 733 million. \u201cBeing here, therefore, represents a great opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors to get to know the market up close, establish partnerships and strengthen ties,\u201d he said. He recalled Expo 2020 Dubai, a universal exhibition taking place in the UAE, is an opportunity to contact all Arab countries.<\/p>\n

The meeting was organized by the ABCC and Cdial Halal. \u201cIt is a great pleasure to be able to provide this meeting, to unite business people and, with this, pass on even more relevant information on how to do business with the UAE and the Arab countries, since the ABCC represents 22 Arab countries and has the partnership of Cdial Halal, which certifies products for these countries,\u201d said Leite.<\/p>\n
