Dubai \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the World Logistics Passport (WLP<\/a>). WLP is DP World\u2019s rewards and incentives program that aims to facilitate global trade by reducing time and costs in exports.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed by the president of the ABCC, Osmar Chohfi, and the COO of DP World and general manager of the WLP, Mahmood Al Bastaki, this Wednesday (17) at the DP World pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. This was the last appointment for the president of the ABCC in the emirate. He returns to Brazil this Thursday (18) after a two-month schedule in the region.<\/p>\n

Bastaki said Brazil is one of the critical hubs the passport had been aiming. He stated the WLP offers better visibility and more opportunities for companies not only in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf but worldwide, tracking cargo quickly and reducing clearance time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith its strategic location in Latin America, Brazil is a strategic partner for the success of the WLP in the region,\u201d said Bastaki. He stated with the partnership of the ABCC, the passport could be a catalyst for changes in the country and the region, both for imports and exports, and the signing of the agreement should encourage new memberships.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will be able to enter the platform and obtain the benefits, with greater visibility and access to markets in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. We want to increase trade and for Brazil to become a hub for its neighboring countries,\u201d said Bastaki. He encouraged Brazilian companies to use the emirate as a trade hub for the region. \u201cWhy Dubai? Because here everything is easier and faster, and everyone is here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The president of the ABCC, Osmar Chohfi, said the relationship between Brazil and the emirate is solid and with the agreement, it will strengthen even more. \u201cThis signature is a milestone in the ABCC\u2019s modernization process. By signing this agreement, we are strengthening our ties with Dubai. Dubai is seen as a model of excellent logistics and efficiency; everyone looks at Dubai with great admiration in Brazil,\u201d said Chohfi.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was attended by the WLP operations manager, Alya Al Shamsi; the company\u2019s product manager, Abdullah Almulla; the Hub and Partnerships manager, Abdullah Al Suwaidi; the senior advisor of DP World, Ronaldo Souza; the export specialist of Dubai Exports, Zilda Rosa; the secretary-general of the ABCC, Tamer Mansour; the head of the ABCC\u2019s international office in Dubai, Rafael Solimeo; and the Institutional Relations manager of the Brazilian institution, Fernanda Baltazar.<\/p>\n

The WLP already has agreements with the Brazilian Federal Government<\/a> and Invest S\u00e3o Paulo<\/a>.<\/p>\n
