As an elected member of the Security Council, Brazil will continue to support all efforts to bring about a just and lasting peace in the region,\u201d the statement says. Brazil will take in January a non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n International Day<\/strong><\/p>\n The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People was created by the United Nations (UN) in 1977. The UN holds on the 29th<\/sup> a global conversation on the Palestinian question, including in social media with the hashtag #PalestineDay. The celebration was a highlight in the UN Media International Seminar that brought together journalists, diplomats and scholars to discuss the team \u201cPeace in the Middle East.\u201d<\/p>\n In a statement, UN secretary-general Ant\u00f3nio Guterres said the situation in Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, is still a major challenge for the international peace and security.
