S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The former president of Brazil, Michel Temer (pictured above),<\/em> will give the keynote speech on the first day of the Global Halal Brazil (GHB) business forum, which will occur from Monday (6) to Wednesday (8), in a hybrid format. Temer, of Lebanese descent, will address the economic prospects for the halal market. Registration to participate in the event over the internet is open. The on-site event will take place at the Renaissance Hotel in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo for a restricted group of guests due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The forum will bring the views of authorities, experts in halal, and executives from Brazil and abroad. Organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) and the Federation of Muslim Associations of Brazil (FAMBRAS Halal) and sponsored by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), the forum has the aim of taking Brazil to a new level in the halal market, to operate in more segments in the area, in addition to animal protein, and to export products and services with the certification to more nations.<\/p>\n

Participating in the opening of the event will be the secretary-general of the Union of Arab Chambers (UAC), Khaled Hanafy; the minister of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning of Bahrain, Essam Bin Abdulla Khalaf; the head of the Department of the Americas at the Arab League, Soudad Najm; the president of the Islamic\u00a0Chamber\u00a0of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA), Abdullah Saleh Kamel; and the Palestinian ambassador and dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors to Brazil, Ibrahim Alzeben. ABCC president Osmar Chohfi; FAMBRAS Halal president Mohamed Zoghbi; and Apex-Brasil president Augusto Pestana will also speak.<\/p>\n

After the keynotes, the panels will begin. On the first day, the themes will be; Impacts of COVID-19 in the main markets and assessment of competitiveness and innovation in halal; Agribusiness \u2013 Brazil and its leading role in the halal market; The future of the global halal food market; and Sustainability and technology in the food sector. Over the three days, the event will occur from 9:00 am to 1:20 pm BRT; 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm GST. There will be simultaneous translation into Portuguese and English.<\/p>\n
