S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The delegation of transporters<\/strong> in the International Transport Mission to the United Arab Emirates had the opportunity to take part in an immersion in the emirate of Sharjah, about 30 km away from Dubai. The delegation visited the headquarters of the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), where they learned about the innovation ecosystem established there.<\/p>\n

According to the CNT\u2019s<\/strong> press agency, the park\u2019s senior executive, Naziha Antar, said the site has 22 universities and education institutes, 47,000 active students, and an annual investment of AED 1.5 billion (about USD 408.3 million at the current rate) in education. The park receives collaboration and support from the government, industry, and academia.<\/p>\n

Also in the Sharjah<\/strong> region, the delegation had contact with 3D printers used in the manufacturing of building materials and tested an experimental line of flying vehicles developed by uSky Transport, a Belarus-based company. According to the Eastern European company, such a network, implemented across the city, could serve 10,000 passengers per hour, with air vehicles traveling up to 150 kilometers per hour.<\/p>\n

Technology and smart cities<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Dubai, at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) office in the emirate, the business people watched a demonstration of the CAFU application, focused on fuel delivery. \u201cThis technology has the potential to transform Dubai<\/strong> into a top-of-the-line smart city. The system can fill the tank of any vehicle, wherever it is,\u201d said the company\u2019s representative, Alaa El Huni, responsible for the international expansion and partnerships sector, to CNT.<\/p>\n

On the same day, the delegation had a meeting with Karen Jones, head of the Apex-Brasil branch office at the UAE.<\/p>\n

Public transport in Dubai<\/strong><\/p>\n

The mission\u2019s schedule also included a visit to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which presented the public transport model of the emirate. RTA is responsible for planning and implementing transport and traffic projects in Dubai, drafting legislation and strategic plans, and designing and building the local rail network.<\/p>\n

The national executive director of SEST SENAT, Nicole Goulart, reiterated the delegation\u2019s mission to learn from good practices in the fields of mobility, public transport, and legislation, focusing on the transportation of passengers and cargo.<\/p>\n

The Brazilians have also visited Expo 2020 Dubai and, this Wednesday (19), had a meeting with representatives of the country\u2019s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI). During the event (opening picture<\/em>), the parties discussed the government\u2019s perspective on the UAE\u2019s transport sector and the efforts of the CNT system in Brazil. The Mission\u2019s schedule continues until January 22. It is organized by the ABCC and promoted by the CNT System through SEST SENAT.<\/p>\n
