S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The FIFA<\/strong> World Cup Qatar 2022<\/strong>, which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 18, has opened applications for its Volunteer Program. More than 20,000 volunteers are sought to participate in the sport event. The thousands of volunteers<\/strong> will be put at the heart of the tournament\u2019s operations and create a volunteering legacy in the region.<\/p>\n

No previous experience is needed, and candidates from all backgrounds and different parts of the world are welcome to apply on the website volunteer.FIFA.com<\/a> since Monday (21)<\/p>\n

Applicants must be at least 18 years old on October 1, 2022, and speak English<\/strong> \u2013 Arabic is an advantage. Other languages are a plus. Ability to commit to a minimum of ten full days during the tournament is required.<\/p>\n

The Volunteer Program<\/strong> is especially looking for reliable problem-solvers with interpersonal skills and an ability to learn quickly. Communication, leadership, language and teamwork skills will all be useful.<\/p>\n

The Cup will start in late November, but some volunteer roles will start from October 1st<\/sup><\/strong>. The volunteers will be at the heart of the tournament\u2019s operations, providing support across 45 functional areas at official and non-official sites such as stadiums, training sites, the airport, fan zones, hotels, and public transportation hubs.<\/p>\n

Shortlisted candidates will take part in an assessment and interview. All selected volunteers will receive training, as well as a limited-edition Adidas<\/strong> uniform along with a meal during their shift and free access to public transport.<\/p>\n

The kick-off of the Volunteer Program was marked by an event at Doha\u2019s Katara Amphitheatre (pictured on top<\/em>) earlier this week. Football icons and special guests were among the star-studded line-up including Qatar Foundation CEO Hind Bint Hamad Al Thani, Culture and Sports minister Salah Bin Ghanem Al Ali, and Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy secretary-general Hassan Al Thawadi. FIFA president Gianni Infantino<\/strong>, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura and Qatar Legacy ambassador Tim Cahill also took part in the event and greeted 3,500 potential applicants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first FIFA World Cup of its kind. The first in our beautiful country and region. We want to use the power of football to open the door to a world of amazing experiences,\u201d said Al Thawadi.<\/p>\n
