But this time, I decided to pursue new outdoor<\/strong> spots in the most cosmopolitan of all emirates.<\/p>\n

And, as it was February, winter in the region, the task became a bit simpler. (But wait, at the end of the text, I will tell you about some other options for the summer<\/em>). So, I discovered the Ripe Market<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> a street market full of local entrepreneurs. But before reaching them, an entry worthy of Vila Madalena, for those who know the trendy S\u00e3o Paulo neighborhood. Or rather: have you ever been to the Jardim Secreto market<\/strong>? Well, that is the mood.<\/p>\n

The entrance had little flags and a long hallway full of shops on either side. The super colorful decoration gave way to products ranging from plants to spices<\/strong> and jewelry<\/strong>. It was a Saturday morning, and many families were hiking there. The market even had an area just for children to paint and draw outdoors.<\/p>\n

I am still unsure whether the Ripe Market is a tourist ride or a family outing. Maybe a little of both. The taxi driver who took me there did not know. But two Emiratis recommended the place to me to watch the day go by.<\/p>\n

I started by getting to know Levant Food<\/strong>. The Palestinian olive oil brand offers from zaatar<\/strong> to sumac<\/strong>. Then go visit my sister’s booth; she sells cups.” And so, I met Creations by Hanan<\/strong><\/a>. Hanan lives in Sharjah and produces typical Arabic coffee cups<\/strong>. But she does much more than that. She is an artist. The ceramist also has sculptures and artwork crafted with the same material.<\/p>\n

In fact, there was no lack of art there. I also saw many pictures, drawings, and prints of Arabic calligraphy. One of the stores sold macram\u00e9 pieces, an ancient hand-weaving technique. Among the clothing products, there was everything from fabrics and children’s brands to traditional Arab and even Indian clothing.<\/p>\n

Local farmers get in direct contact with consumers<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

After much walking the pathways of Expo 2020 Dubai, I thought it was amazing to find a place like that actually made by Dubai residents for other residents. That is because the original idea for Ripe Market came from selling local products such as honey<\/strong> and vegetables<\/strong>. But I already talked a lot about food here, like the story on Mooneh<\/a>, a brand I met that day while meeting the new coffee trends<\/a> in the region. But you can rest assured the market also offers breakfast and lunch options. An area at the back of the market works as a food court. It has fast-food-style<\/em> snacks and typical Mexican and Japanese food.<\/p>\n

Ah, now the good part: I discovered Ripe Market also works in other actions, places, and times. Now, in April, for example, the market starts to operate at night. Until May 29, it will continue to do so to make the walk more chill, even when temperatures begin to rise. Worth the visit and, who knows, saving some dirhams for souvenirs of this charming place.<\/p>\n
