S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 A group of 45 travel agents will learn more about Tunisia\u2019s tourism<\/strong> on-site in May. The famtour, as trips to promote tourist destinations are called, will occur from May 9 to 18, with a one-week stay in the Arab country. A journalist will also participate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to allow travel agents, Flot’s customers, to get to know, experience, and fall in love with Tunisia. Those who know the country can sell better,\u201d said Jos\u00e9 Eduardo Barbosa (pictured above)<\/em>, CEO of Flot, the operator to promote the famtour in partnership with tourism company Gold Experiences.<\/p>\n

Professionals from Flot’s partner tourism agencies will travel to the Arab country. Operators, such as Flot,<\/strong> are companies that assemble tour packages. Agencies sell them. Some operators also sell to the final customer, which is the case of Flot, although the company’s primary focus is as an operator. Gold Experiences will be responsible for the agents’ travel in Tunisia, where it operates.<\/p>\n

The itinerary will include trips to the beach, desert, and places reflecting the culture and history of Tunisia. The Bardo Museum<\/strong>, with its famous collection of Roman mosaics, is on the plans, as is a walk through the alleys of Sidi Bou Said to appreciate the Arab-Moorish architecture, its cafes and shops, and a visit to the mausoleum of Tunisia’s first president, Habib Bourguiba.<\/p>\n

Agents will also be able to visit the typical underground dwellings of Imazighen, the salt lake<\/strong> of Chott El Jerid, oases with waterfalls and mountains, and the settings of the Star Wars movie shot in Tunisia, among others. Barbosa said one of the program’s focuses would be gastronomy, with an olive oil and wine route. \u201cAgents will have the opportunity to taste these products,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Flot has been selling Tunisia as a destination for 20 years, and Barbosa says they receive customers every year. \u201cHowever, our bet is the number could be quadrupled with the investment in the famtour<\/strong>,\u201d said the businessman. Currently, Tunisia has its borders open to tourists from all countries; they are only required to present a proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to enter.<\/p>\n

The famtour has the support of the Embassy of Tunisia to Brazil, Tunisian National Tourism Organization (ONTT), Lufthansa Airlines, and the Honorary Consul of Tunisia in S\u00e3o Paulo, Rubens Hannun. \u201cWe have the support of the government of Tunisia, and we are talking to the Ministry of Tourism to continue the promotion activities,\u201d explained Barbosa.<\/p>\n

Flot<\/strong> was founded in 1984 by entrepreneurs Jos\u00e9 Eduardo Barbosa and Antonio Aul\u00edsio. Currently, Tiago Barbosa, who joined the business in place of Aul\u00edsio in 2005, runs the company together with Eduardo. The company is headquartered in S\u00e3o Paulo and has 60 professionals. Flot organizes trips worldwide, especially to Europe, South America, the United States, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. Four thousand tailor-made tour packages and trips are offered.<\/p>\n
