S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Authorities from Bahrain<\/strong> and Brazil<\/strong> discussed strengthening bilateral ties this week during a visit to the Arab country by a Brazilian delegation headed by the special secretary for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, Fl\u00e1vio Rocha<\/strong>. The secretary was received by the Crown Prince of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is also the deputy supreme commander and prime minister of the country. According to information disclosed by the official local news agency, Bahrain News Agency<\/em> (BNA), the prince praised the commitment of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro to strengthening cooperation<\/strong> with Bahrain. Khalifa said relations between the countries had been amplified over the years through agreements, memoranda of understanding, and diplomatic visits. Another royal family representative, Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n

Rocha also met with the minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs, and Urban Planning of Bahrain, Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, with whom he discussed the possibility of collaboration and exchange of technologies in agriculture and issues of food security, climate change, and environmental preservation. Khalaf said Bahrain aims to achieve carbon emissions neutrality by 2060.<\/p>\n

The delegation led by Rocha was received at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) by the institution’s president, Sameer Nass, and acting CEO, Abdulla Al Sada. They discussed trade relations, and Nass highlighted the enthusiasm of Bahraini businesspeople in expanding partnerships with the Brazilians. The two presented each country’s benefits to foreign investment<\/strong>. The meeting was followed by a B2B between the entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

The defense<\/strong> sector was also on the program of the meetings in Bahrain. Rocha met with the commander-in-chief of the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF), Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa; Chief of Staff of the BDF, Dhiab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi; and other representatives of the sector, with whom he spoke about the growing relationship between the countries in the defense sector. Rocha also met with the National Security Adviser and Commander of the Royal Guard, Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.<\/p>\n

The delegation had several activities in Bahrain and has visited nine Arab countries. In addition to representatives from other sectors of the Brazilian government, the mission also brought heads from the private sector. Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, a member of the Foreign Relations and National Defense Committee of the Brazilian House of Representatives, was also in the delegation. Representatives of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) also participated in the mission.<\/p>\n
