Revenue in the period reached USD 904.6 million, a 37.8% growth over May last year. Data were released this Tuesday (14) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).<\/p>\n<p>Year-to-date shipments reached 1.990 million tonnes, 7.8% more than from January to May 2021. In the first five months of 2022, foreign sales revenue reached USD 3.776 billion, 33.6% higher than last year.<\/p>\n<p>ABPA\u2019s president, Ricardo Santin, stated in a note the global inflation picture, with high production costs and strong demand for poultry in the international market, settled the international average prices to levels above USD 2,000 per tonne. \u201cGreat revenue performance from May shipments helped balance the impacts caused by the soaring prices of all production inputs,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<p>Among the leading destinations for Brazilian poultry exports in May, the highlights were China, which imported 50,200 tonnes (-8.8%); the <strong>United Arab Emirates<\/strong>, with 44,800 tonnes (+73.2%); Japan, 33,100 tonnes (+3.2%); and the European Union, 26,300 tonnes (+80.7%).<\/p>\n<p>According to the ABPA\u2019s Market director, Luis Rua, Brazil has sustainably increased the capillarity of its shipments, maintaining and strengthening its position in primary markets. \u201cFor instance, the United Arab Emirates and <strong>Saudi Arabia<\/strong> were positive highlights in the Middle East region. In Asia, the Philippines stood out and had its highest volume of purchases of Brazilian products, and South Korea has also been showing good prospects.
