S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Brazilian Supermarket Association (Abras) intends to bring to the city of S\u00e3o Paulo representatives of 40 international companies in the sector, including at least 10 from the Arab world, to negotiate with Brazilian suppliers. The business roundtables will be held on September 23rd and 24th, on the sidelines of the 43rd National Supermarket Convention.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur intention is to bring 10 or more companies from the Arab world. We want a significant attendance from the region,\u201d said to ANBA the international manager of Abras, Cl\u00e1udio Macedo. The aim is to bring representatives of large supermarket chains, but also a few distributors. They will negotiate directly with approximately 80 Brazilian food and equipment supplier companies.<\/p>\n
The action is part of a Buyer Project by the Abras in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex). The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/b> is helping to contact Arab companies by means of its Foreign Trade Department.<\/p>\n
According to Macedo, attendance has already been confirmed by companies from Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the Arab world, the organisation is inviting importers from Canada, Angola and Latin American countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur objective is to receive 40 foreign companies,\u201d he declared. Aside from the roundtables, the guests are going to make technical visits to Brazilian supermarkets, to witness how the stores work in the country.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the Abras will also promote a Seller Project for international exporters who are interested in supplying food, beverage and equipment to Brazilian chains. \u201cIt is an incentive from Abras to its affiliated companies,\u201d said Macedo. The largest supermarket companies in the country will be in attendance.<\/p>\n
