The enterprise, which is headquartered in the city of São Paulo, is negotiating partnerships with companies in those two countries. The aim is for them to operate with HDI’s technology and sell the services developed by the company in the Middle East. The CEO of HDI, Marco César Bassi, met representatives of Arab countries at a congress, in Germany, approximately two months ago.

“They expressed interest in partnering with us to sell our solutions in the Middle East,” explains Bassi. The company from the Emirates is an integrator, whereas the Saudi is a software developer. HDI is going to evaluate whether they have the adequate features in order to operate with its system. The Brazilian company guarantees software quality. “We certify that the software our client has purchased, developed, or is developing works, and works well, and that it meets international quality standards,” says Bassi.

In addition to system testing, HDI also issues compliance certificates. The company provides services to large companies in Brazil, such as Itaú bank and Visa Net. Bassi believes that there is space for the company’s services in the Middle East, given the size of companies there, which are large and operate in multiple fields. “They are clients that would benefit enormously from our services, because they use large, complex, integrated systems that have several issues, precisely due to their high level of complexity,” says the CEO.

The goal of HDI’s work is to anticipate the problems that might be caused by system errors, and thus prevent risks and reduce costs. The best-case scenario, according to the businessman, is for the system to be tested before it goes into production, during the development phase. HDI actually started guaranteeing quality in its own software manufacturing. After receiving requests from some of its clients, it started offering the service to other Brazilian companies, and soon to foreign companies as well.

The company was established in 1990 by Bassi, an electrical engineer with a degree from the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as postdoctoral and master’s degrees in Administration with an emphasis on Quality Guarantee from the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP). The system testing and quality guarantee services started being offered to other companies in 2002. In that year, HDI started working for the Itaú bank, and shortly after that, in early 2003, an international client came up, the Falabella group, which is the leading retailer in Chile.

Presently, HDI has direct operations, including offices, in Chile and in Germany. The company also operates indirectly, by means of partner companies that offer its technology, in Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico and Portugal. This year, the company’s revenues should reach 12 million reals (US$ 5.96 million), growth of 120% over 2008. The forecast for next year is 20 million reals (US$ 9.93 million). These figures, according to Bassi, take into consideration modest projections regarding the international market. The company has approximately 70 direct employees.

Contact
HDI Group
Telephone: (+55 11) 2346.3506
Site: www.grupohdi.com

*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

The company from the city of São Paulo tests software for large companies in Brazil and has already expanded into seven American and European countries.
