S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Twenty-three Brazilian diplomats are participating in the first edition of the Brazilian Agribusiness Immersion Program, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, which aims to increase knowledge of the meats, coffee, fruit, sugar and alcohol, dairy, and grain sectors.<\/p>\n
The meeting started last Monday (6th) in the Brazilian capital, Bras\u00edlia. The professionals, who work in strategic positions abroad, accompanied the products’ sanitary certification process during the week. The diplomats have already visited poultry, swine and bovine properties and slaughterhouses, in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, and became closely acquainted with fruit production in the northeastern Brazilian states of Pernambuco and Bahia.<\/p>\n
In the municipality of Patroc\u00ednio, in the state of Minas Gerais, the diplomats witnessed the coffee manufacturing process, visited the premises at the coffee excellence centre, which provides training to producers, and became familiar with the work developed by the Cooperative of the Council of Brazilian Savannah Coffee Farmers’ Associations (Coocacer).<\/p>\n
According to the advising minister to the Brazilian embassy in the United Arab Emirates, Arthur Nogueira, the work carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture’s federal agricultural auditors is effective, with teams present at every step of production. \u201cIt is worth noting that chicken slaughter in one single slaughterhouse may be as high as 270,000 per day, involving more than 3,000 employees in all production phases,\u201d said Nogueira in a release issued by the press office of the Ministry.<\/p>\n
This week, in addition to meeting with Brazilian agribusiness representatives, the diplomats will visit the National Agricultural Laboratory (Lanagro), in the city of Campinas, in the interior of the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, and a sugarcane mill in the state of Paran\u00e1. The program will end next Friday (17th), in Bras\u00edlia.<\/p>\n
