S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The solo exhibition of photographs \u2018The Road to Reframe<\/strong>\u2019 [\u2018Beirute: o Caminho dos Olhares\u2019], by the Lebanese Dia Mrad, is on display from this Friday (5) at the Rio Art Museum (MAR) in Rio de Janeiro. For the first time in Brazil, the exhibition of Fine Art photographs is held by the Consulate General of Lebanon to Rio de Janeiro to honor the explosion victims at the Port of Beirut in 2020; a tragedy occurred two years ago. The exhibition has free admission and runs until August 28. The picture above is part of the exhibition.<\/em><\/p>\n

Once the dust had settled and the smoke cleared, Dia Mrad<\/strong>\u2019s eye-opening journey on the morning of August 5, 2020 \u2013 a pilgrimage through the pulverized remains of the city \u2013 confirmed an unfathomable truth that Beirut was decimated.<\/p>\n

This journey set the tone for a new chapter in Mrad\u2019s works, highlighting an emotional connection to his central theme, the architecture<\/strong> of the Lebanese capital. After spending years capturing the construction reality of the city, it was now naked and exposed. Submitting to his craft, Mrad went on to capture this new reality.<\/p>\n

The explosion at the Port of Beirut on August 4, 2020, deeply marked Lebanon\u2019s recent history. Considered the second largest non-nuclear explosion in the world, the tragedy claimed the lives of over 200 people, injured thousands more, and destroyed half of the country\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Road to Reframe\u201d has the support of the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro, MAR, Instituto Inclusartiz, Mar\u00e9 do Amanh\u00e3 Orchestra, Federation of Lebanese-Brazilian Entities of Rio de Janeiro, and Brazil-Lebanon Chamber of Commerce (CCBL) in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n
