According to the minister&#8217;s statement, the numbers came close to 2019, a reference year before the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The tourist area of <strong>Djerba-Zarzis<\/strong> ranked first in the country regarding accommodation capacity, including workforce and hotels. About one-sixth of all visitors to the country, 510,000 tourists, have visited the region this year. Overnight stays in the area amounted to 2.4 million, up 218% over the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>The island of Djerba <em>(pictured above)<\/em> has vast natural beauty and different tourist attractions. The possibilities range from museums, markets, and historical and religious sites to walks on the beach and activities with horses and camels, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Algeria and Libya were essential sources of tourists to Tunisia, especially in this period of an upturn, according to minister Belhassine.
