S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The governments of Brazil<\/strong> and Bahrain<\/strong> carried out new rapprochement actions. In addition to a political consultation meeting, the two countries signed a cooperation agreement in the military area during a visit to Bahrain by ambassador Kenneth F\u00e9lix Haczynski da N\u00f3brega, secretary for the Middle East, Europe, and Africa of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

The fourth round of political consultations<\/strong> between Brazil and Bahrain took place this Sunday (4), according to information released by Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the country’s official news agency. The session was jointly chaired by N\u00f3brega and the Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. According to the BNA, Shaikh Abdullah praised the developing ties between Bahrain and Brazil and spoke about his country’s interest in increasing bilateral cooperation and strategic partnerships with Brazil. Also according to the agency, N\u00f3brega praised Bahrain’s pioneering role in supporting peace and security in the Middle East. They reviewed the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed in different sectors.<\/p>\n

The commander-in-chief of the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF), field marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa received the Brazilian representative. The two signed an agreement aiming to support and strengthen Brazil-Bahrain military affairs<\/strong>. The commander-in-chief praised bilateral relations and spoke with N\u00f3brega about initiatives to further develop military cooperation between the two nations.<\/p>\n

The visit followed other steps Brazil is taking to strengthen ties with Bahrain. Last year, Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro visited the Arab country and opened the Brazilian embassy in Manama. The Special Secretariat for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic also carried out a mission to Bahrain during a trip to nine Arab countries.<\/p>\n
