The show can be visited from Friday (2) to January 9 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austrianhospice.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Austrian Hospice<\/a> in Jerusalem, with free entrance. The exhibition is held by <strong>Brazil\u2019s Representation Office to Palestine<\/strong>, in Ramallah, in commemoration of Brazil\u2019s independence bicentennial.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_321883\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-321883\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-5.jpeg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-321885\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-5-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-5-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-5-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-5.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-321883\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Twenty-three pictures can be seen at the show<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The show is an invitation for visitors to go through holy sites and landscapes in Palestine through the eyes of the emperor. Dom Pedro II, who was a Christian, was the first head of state of the Americas to ever travel to the Holy Land in 1876. According to the organizers, he visited holy places of the three monotheistic religions and showed curiosity for Palestine\u2019s human, historical, cultural and geographic aspects.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_321886\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-321886\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-3.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-321888 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-3-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-321886\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>About the emperor<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The exhibition venue is a tourist site that doubles as a hotel or hostel and is where Dom Pedro II stayed when he traveled to the Holy Land. The show exhibits photos that the monarch collected in his travels, as well as <strong>photographs<\/strong> he took himself and images of journal pages where the emperor described his visit to the Holy Land, numbering twenty-three pictures featuring images and pieces on the travel. The photos exhibited are part of the D. Thereza Christina Maria of the National Library Foundation and the imagens of the emperor\u2019s journals are in the custody of the Imperial Museum of Brazil (IBRAM).<\/p>\n<p>One of the diary pages reads: \u201c<em>November 26, 1876 \u2013 I made camp at 4:25 in North Jerusalem, seeing mount of olives beyond the Middle Age walls. At 4, I found myself in the Holy Sepulcher, where I prayed for my daughter, my grandchildren, my siblings, and all people I care. The church has a venerable aspect.<\/em>\u201d Other documents like letters from the emperor during his stay in Jerusalem and his signature in the Austrian Hospice\u2019s guest book are also displayed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_321890\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-321890\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-4.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-321892\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-4-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-4-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-4-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/palestina-4.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-321890\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Ambassador presented the show and documentary<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The head of Brazil\u2019s Representation Office in Ramallah, ambassador Alessandro Candeas, opened the exhibition in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps, the Brazilian community, scholars, intellectuals and partner institutions. Supporters include Ajyal Radio Network, Cust\u00f3dia Terrae Sanctae, Christian Media Center, and Greek, Armenian and Latin Orthodox Patriarchies.<\/p>\n<p>The book by Brazilian researcher Roberto Khatlab on the trips of Dom Pedro II to the Arab countries was one of the bases of the exhibition. Shows on the topic have been held in countries such as Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan. \u201cIn this bicentennial of the Independence of Brazil, Brazil\u2019s embassies are reliving the travels of Dom Pedro II, the pioneer of Brazil-Arab relations who attracted the Arab immigration to Brazil,\u201d he said.
