Sales to <strong>Africa<\/strong>, where some Arab countries are located, also grew 39.2% in the same comparison, according to data released by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (MAPA).<\/p>\n<p>Exports to the Middle East totaled USD 944.7 million, and the region accounted for 7.5% of all Brazilian shipments abroad in the period. Sales to countries on the African continent totaled USD 902.9 million and represented a 7.1% share.<\/p>\n<p>The Middle East was the fourth leading market for Brazilian agribusiness products, Africa the fifth, behind <strong>Asia<\/strong>, at the top of the ranking, the <strong>European Union<\/strong> second, and the North American Free Trade Agreement (<strong>NAFTA<\/strong>) in third.<\/p>\n<p>In total, Brazilian agribusiness exports grew 51.2% last month, reaching USD 12.6 billion in revenue. According to the MAPA, the November result reflected increased volume and <strong>higher prices<\/strong>. For the first time, Brazil surpassed the mark of USD 10 billion in exports for November.<\/p>\n<p>Among the foremost destinations for sales of Brazilian agricultural and livestock products last month were Arab countries such as <strong>Egypt<\/strong>, <strong>Saudi Arabia<\/strong>, and the United Arab Emirates. Egypt came 11th, with USD 268.7 million and a 42% growth; Saudi Arabia clinched 15th, with USD 216.5 million, up 60%, and the <strong>UAE<\/strong> 18th place, with USD 214.6 million and a 0.1% gain.<\/p>\n<p>In general agribusiness exports, the five main products were the soybean complex (21.7%); animal proteins (15.2%); cereals, flours and preparations (14.7%); sugar and alcohol complex (14.5%); and forestry products (10.6%).
