S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The new consul-general from the United Arab Emirates to S\u00e3o Paulo is Abdalla Shaheen<\/strong>. The diplomat took up the post last December. He visited the headquarters of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) in S\u00e3o Paulo on Tuesday (24). Pictured above, Shaheen and ABCC president Osmar Chohfi.<\/em><\/p>\n

On the occasion, Shaheen and George Ramos, an economic researcher at the Consulate of the United Arab Emirates in S\u00e3o Paulo<\/strong>, were welcomed by Chohfi, as well as ABCC Institutional Relations director Fernanda Baltazar and secretary-general & CEO Tamer Mansour.<\/p>\n

Executives discussed how to collaborate for Brazil-UAE bilateral ties<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

During the meeting, the consul learned about the projects the ABCC has developed like the Ellos<\/strong> Platform, which uses blockchain and the Arab House<\/strong>, the institution\u2019s cultural arm. The executives discussed possible joint actions in these and other areas.<\/p>\n

Abdalla Shaheen stressed he intends to lend a lot of weight to sectors such as culture<\/strong> and economy<\/strong> in the consulate. In a statement, the diplomat also explained he aims to work with Brazilian and Emirati artists, scholars, writers and musicians to boost cultural interchange. Other goals include providing a high-level support to UAE citizens in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, as well as intensifying political, cultural and economic ties between the regions.<\/p>\n

Among other posts, Shaheen acted as the UAE consul-general to New York, where he worked to foster bilateral relations between the Arab country and the US, and while there he focused on economic growth and cultural interchange, too.<\/p>\n
