The Executive Management Committee (GECEX) \u2013 the Foreign Trade Chamber (CAMEX)\u2019s collegiate nucleus \u2013 made the decision last week in its first meeting under the new administration.<\/p>\n<p>The decision revokes the GECEX resolution #148 from January 20, 2021, which had zeroed the import tariff for five cargo tire models. Camex said Brazilian tires producers had been \u201cfacing a drop in production\u201d caused by an increase in imports and as a result, producers were threatening to \u201cparalyze production and carry out layoffs.\u201d However, it did say that after an increase in import tariffs, tire producers had \u201csignaled the retreat\u201d with their threats to stop production and lay off workers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plastic resins<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, GECEX decided to hike the <strong>import tariffs on four plastic resins<\/strong> to 11.2%.
