S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Movies from Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Palestine may be seen by Brazilian audiences at the 33rd S\u00e3o Paulo International Film Festival. There are five productions that cover themes like family, war, women\u2019s rights and gang fights. All may be seen up to November 5th.<\/p>\n
Three of these movies were produced in partnership with other countries, like, for example, \u201cLebanon\u201d, a partnership between Lebanon, France, Germany and Israel, movie \u201cFran\u00e7aise\u201d, a joint production between Morocco and France, and \u201cThe time that remains\u201d, a partnership between France and Palestine.<\/p>\n
One of the Egyptian movies being shown, "Ibrahim Labyad", placed its director, Marwan Hamed, in the young director competition. Hamed is one of the young directors from Egypt, aged 32.<\/p>\n
"Yacoubian building", the first long movie by Hamed, granted director Adel Iman the best actor award in 2006, in the 30th edition of the festival. The same production was also elected best first movie in the Tribeca, Nova York and Montreal Festivals.<\/p>\n
The other Arab films being shown are "Whisper with the wind", from Iraq, and "Scherazade, tell me a story", from Egypt. The exhibition sites and times of the movies may be found at site www.mostra.org.<\/p>\n
