S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Three cities in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais will hold workshops<\/strong> this month on the halal market and certification<\/strong>, which attests products were made according to Islamic standards and can be consumed by Muslims. The first workshop will occur in Belo Horizonte on April 11, the second in Uberl\u00e2ndia on April 24, and the last in Pouso Alegre, on April 26. Registration is open and free of charge.<\/p>\n

The workshops are aimed at Brazilian food and beverage<\/strong> companies. The action is part of the Halal Brazil project, carried out by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), in partnership with the state of Minas Gerais government, through its Economic Development Secretariat. The Halal Committee, comprised of certifiers working on the project, will participate in the activities.<\/p>\n

At the meetings, registered company representatives will learn more about the halal market, its opportunities, what it is, and how certification works. They will also get to know the Halal Brazil<\/strong> project, the initiative’s action plan, and how it can help companies to enter this market. Halal Brazil aims to increase the Brazilian supply of halal products to the world and will carry out a series of actions to make this happen. Internationalization will be another theme of the workshop.<\/p>\n

The workshops are aimed at companies not yet halal-certified but want to get to know these consumers better and consider serving the segment. According to information from the Internationalization Projects manager of the ABCC, Fernanda Dantas, companies interested in certification will be invited to participate in the next step in the Halal Brazil project; training with certifiers.<\/p>\n
