The live classes will be via Zoom on May 4 and 18, and June 1 and 15, on Thursdays, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Enrollments are open. <em>Pictured, the 25 de Mar\u00e7o street, where the first Arab immigrants established their shops in Brazil.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The course aims to discuss and reflect on the presence and diversity of the Arab culture in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo. The Arab presented started in this and other Brazilian cities from the migrations that took place from the mid-nineteenth century to the early twentieth century.<\/p>\n<p>Upon leaving their lands, in addition to their luggage holding their belongings, the immigrants brought countless cultural aspects that can be material and immaterial. They include clothing, architecture, food, religion, dance, music, oral and written language, and other ways of making, living and surviving in places and geographic locations in search of a place to build and rebuild their lives.<\/p>\n<p>The classes will be fortnightly and given by professor and historian Marcia Vald\u00edvia and professor and artist Marcia Dib. The recordings of the classes will remain available until July 15, one month after the end of the course. The price is BRL 250.
