S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Brazilian school Roberto Miranda Educa\u00e7\u00e3o Corporativa has created a free extension course on the luxury hotel industry to be taught in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, at the premises of the Burj Al Arab hotel. The course, the first of its kind among Brazilian schools, has openings for up to 40 students.<\/p>\n
The classes are going to be taught by renowned professionals from the region\u2019s hotel industry, including some who work for the Jumeirah network, which owns the Burj, and may also feature guests such as Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Galactic, a company that offers private space trips, and United Arab Emirates sheikh Ahmed Bin Sulayem. There should also be technical visits to the main hotels in Dubai, such as the Burj itself and the Atlantis hotel. <\/p>\n
The first edition of the course will last from July 1st to 15th, 2010. According to the executive Roberto Miranda, who owns the school, in 2011, the course may have up to two editions, depending on student demand. <\/p>\n
The lessons should approach all of the aspects related to luxury tourism, such as golf and ski resorts, and Web Marketing 2.0. <\/p>\n
The Roberto Miranda school already offers, in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo, an MBA course on the luxury hotel industry. Its owner explains that before deciding to promote the extension course in Dubai, he searched for an alternative in the Brazilian market, to no avail. \u201cThe luxury hotel industry requires more complex work,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

According to Miranda, his students are not only hotel industry professionals, but also managers of hospitals, shopping centres and luxury stores, as well as doctors. \u201cAll of those who have high-income customers envision possibilities of improving their hospitality.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miranda underscores that Dubai was chosen to host the course because he believes that the emirate is \u201cproactive and futuristic\u201d. He claims that the course is the first of its kind with regard to human conquests, and that he sees Dubai as an example of a great conquest. The executive also calls attention to \u201c(Dubai\u2019s) ability to create innovative high-end, high standard features.\u201d<\/p>\n
Enrolment for the course is already open and prices vary depending on the accommodation options. The option including a stay at the Burj Al Arab costs US$ 25,000.<\/p>\n
The MBA offered in S\u00e3o Paulo also includes virtual lessons directly from Dubai, with Jean Phillipe Bittencourt, who is responsible for parks and resorts project Dubailand, and who has already worked for the Jumeirah group.<\/p>\n
In 2008, the Brazilian luxury market generated a turnover of US$ 5.99 billion. This year, according to a survey by the MCF Consultoria e GfK Brasil consultancy firm, there should be growth of 8%, with a turnover of US$ 6.45 billion.<\/p>\n
