Ji-Paran\u00e1 \u2013 The state of Rond\u00f4nia<\/strong> produces fish (tambaqui e pirarucu), Amazon Robusta specialty coffee, cocoa, a\u00e7a\u00ed, and other products. For the lieutenant governor and secretary for Economy Development of Rond\u00f4nia, S\u00e9rgio Gon\u00e7alves<\/strong> (pictured)<\/em>, these are the areas with the highest growth potential for exports.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview with ANBA, in the Rond\u00f4nia Rural Show Internacional<\/strong> that runs till Saturday (27), the lieutenant governor said the state intends to create situations to showcase the quality of its products. \u201cWe\u2019ve exported coffee, tambaqui<\/strong>, cocoa, and ore, and 80% of exports are soybeans, maize, beef, and pewter,\u201d said Gon\u00e7alvez.<\/p>\n

He said Rond\u00f4nia is far from the major economic hubs, including the agricultural economic region of Brazil but there\u2019s a wealth of opportunities to explore in the state. \u201cOur coffee<\/strong> in Rond\u00f4nia is award winning, our cocoa <\/b>has won some awards, too, and we have opportunities in mining industry of rocks, gold, columbites, pewter, deposits of iron, and rare lands,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Gon\u00e7alves also talked about the green market<\/strong> and the carbon credit<\/strong> market in the state. \u201cWe want to present these projects for investors. An economic development model that conserves the forest and generates income. You can earn money with a standing forest, with ensured productivity in a smaller area,\u201d he said. The lieutenant governor believes it\u2019s possible to boost productivity while increasing quality and gave the example of the soybean.<\/p>\n

The 4 Cachoeiras Col\u00f4nia artisanal cheese<\/strong> manufactured on the border between Ariquemes and Cacaul\u00e2ndia, Rond\u00f4nia, won the 2021 World Championship Cheese Contest held by Expoqueijo in Arax\u00e1, Minas Gerais. \u201c[Rond\u00f4nia\u2019s cheese] are another gap of opportunity. We don\u2019t have a mass scale but we make high-quality milk and dairy products, especially mozzarella, which we even sell to S\u00e3o Paulo. We want to increase production, and we need investments to do so,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Arab world<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gon\u00e7alves said he\u2019s optimistic on the relation with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) and said the state plans on moving forward and taking Rond\u00f4nia\u2019s products to the Arab countries<\/strong>. \u201cWe don\u2019t just want investments but synergies, with educational and scientific interchange. We plan on participating in next year\u2019s Gulfood in Dubai,\u201d he said. Gulfood is the Middle East\u2019s leading food and beverage trade show.<\/p>\n

The lieutenant governor visited the ABCC<\/strong> earlier this year to talk with its leaders about joint actions, and the institution is present in the Rond\u00f4nia Rural Show Internacional. The upcoming activities of the government of Rond\u00f4nia together with the ABCC will be a dinner party with Arab ambassador in Bras\u00edlia in June and the Rond\u00f4nia Day event in S\u00e3o Paulo, whose date is still to be set.<\/p>\n
