S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Jordanian congresspeople <\/strong>Andr\u00e9 Mourad Hawary, Haitham Grais Aoude El Ziadin, Abdullah Ali Khaleel Awad and Firas Jameel Ali Al Sawaeer visited the headquarters of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) last Friday afternoon (14). Andr\u00e9 Mourad Hawary is son of a Brazilian mother and speaks Portuguese. They were welcomed by International Relations vice president Mohamad Orra Mourad. The politicians asked for support to attract more Brazilian tourists to the country. They also want to boost exports of fertilizers and olive oil to Brazil.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany Brazilians are visiting Israel, and we want them to know Jordan is also a holy land. We want to attract more religious and cultural tourism to our country,\u201d said Mourad Hawary. Mohamad Mourad said the ABCC can help organize this promotion. Mourad Hawary said Brazil is a more important market for Jordan than Europe.<\/p>\n

The deputy said Jordan is open to selling to the whole world. \u201cWe want to expand trade with Brazil, and we have two large neighboring markets, Iraq and Syria, which need a bit of everything. Jordan is practically the only way to enter these countries; we have the legal structure for that,\u201d said Mourad Hawary. According to him, goods unloaded at the Port of Aqaba arrive in Iraq in about three hours. They also ship products to Palestine.<\/p>\n

The Jordanians also want to sell more olive oil to Brazil. \u201cWe know Brazil has a large market for olive oil,\u201d said Mourad Hawary.<\/p>\n

The ABCC\u2019s Institutional Relations director Fernanda Baltazar, director Mohamad Abdouni, Technology manager Norton Chagas, and Technology analyst Helena Leite also met with the delegation. Baltazar presented the services offered by the ABCC and the figures for the trade balance between Brazil and Jordan. Chagas presented Ellos, the ABCC\u2019s blockchain platform already used for commercial transactions between Brazil and Jordan.<\/p>\n

Currently, Jordan is the tenth leading destination for Brazilian exports among the Arab countries and is also in tenth place among Arab suppliers to the country. In 2022, USD 399.92 million in goods were shipped from Brazil to Jordan, and USD 181.41 in Jordanian products were imported into the South American country.<\/p>\n

Brazil exports to Jordan mainly poultry, maize, coffee, live cattle, beef, wood, tobacco, and soybean. The Levantine country sells to Brazil primarily potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and nitrogen-based fertilizers.<\/p>\n
