S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian films<\/strong> will be screened this month in Lebanon as part of the 6th Brazilian Film Festival<\/strong>. Beirut hosted the festival last week, and it will have two more screenings this Thursday (20) and Friday (21) at Ishbilia Theatre in the city of Saida. Admission is free.<\/p>\n

The festival is held by the Embassy of Brazil in Beirut and the Guimar\u00e3es Rosa Institute in Beirut (Brasilban), in collaboration with Metropolis Association, to offer quality and accessible cultural events to the Lebanese public.<\/p>\n

In Saida, one of the movies to be screened will be ‘The Boy and the World<\/strong>‘ [‘O Menino e o Mundo’] (pictured above)<\/em>, written and directed by Al\u00ea Abreu, on Thursday (20), at 6:00 pm EEST. The film, an animation without dialogues, tells the story of a boy who, in the absence of a father, leaves his village and discovers a fantastic world with strange beings, portraying issues of the modern world through the eyes of a child.<\/p>\n

On Friday (21), at 7:00 pm EEST, the movie will be ‘Pel\u00e9: Birth of a Legend<\/strong>‘ [‘Pel\u00e9: o Nascimento de uma Lenda’], directed by Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist. The film tells the story of the Brazilian football star, his childhood in the countryside of Minas Gerais, his father’s encouragement, and his first matches for Santos, among other details. The work will be screened in English with Arabic subtitles.<\/p>\n
