S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Lebanon will be the subject of a lecture on August 3 at the Monte Libano Club theater in S\u00e3o Paulo. Researcher and writer Roberto Khatlab, a Brazilian who lives in the Arab country, will give the lecture \u201cL\u00edbano, um o\u00e1sis no Oriente M\u00e9dio\u201d [\u201cLebanon, an oasis in the Middle East,\u201d] from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm BRT. Admission is free, and the event is aimed at club members and guests.<\/p>\n
Khatlab, director of the Latin American Studies and Cultures Center (CECAL) of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) in Lebanon, will cover the country\u2019s history, people, culture, emigration, and tourism, concentrated on a small surface of 10,452 square kilometers. \u201cA microcosm on the surface and a macrocosm on the people; resilient and that do not give up on existing,\u201d said the researcher when publicizing the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe lecture aims to show a Lebanon that, despite conflicts and crises, does not give up on existing, a resilient people, an oasis always with open arms to those who want to know in a small geographic space, many civilizations, eastern and western, and appreciate the ancient and the modern with a lot of hospitality and Lebanese joy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
