S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/b> is going to establish an Investment Committee this year, with the objective of attracting funds from the Arab countries into enterprises in Brazil. The information was disclosed today (19th) by the president of the organization, Salim Taufic Schahin, in a press conference.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a stagnation of liquidity in the Arab world and they are seeking projects to invest in,\u201d said Schahin. He underscored the fact that, on the other hand, Brazil has much to offer, because it is going to require heavy investment in the next few years, especially in infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The executive added that two main attractions that should be announced by the country are the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro. Last year, the Arab Brazilian Chamber has already established two other sectoral committees, one of which is geared towards tourism, and the other towards culture.<\/p>\n
To Schahin, tourism and culture foster trade and investment, because they increase reciprocal knowledge between Brazilians and Arabs. \u201cTourism is going to achieve significant growth [in coming years],\u201d he stated. \u201cBrazil generates lots of curiosity in the Middle East, and the opposite holds true as well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
With regard to culture, he wants to establish the House of Arab Culture in order to promote, in Brazil, the contributions that Arab civilization has made to the development of humanity, and the role of immigrants in the development of Brazil.<\/p>\n
