S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Afro-Brazilian Society for Social and Cultural Development (Afrobras) is going to launch AfrobrasNews<\/i> on January 25th, a news agency that, according to the organisation, should broadcast information about the black population of Brazil and of the world.<\/p>\n
According to the organisation, the release marks the anniversary of S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 celebrated on the 25th. In S\u00e3o Paulo, there are 3 million afro descendants, making it the city with the largest black population outside Africa.<\/p>\n
Afrobras promotes a series of initiatives turned to social insertion of the black population, and the best known is Zumbi dos Palmares College, a higher-education institution in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo where, according to the organisation, 90% of the students consider themselves afro descendants.<\/p>\n
The articles published by the agency, according to an Afrobras press statement, will be of interest not only to black populations, but to all those in favour of Brazilian diversity. It should count on material produced in Brazil and abroad. The site has a profile on Twitter.<\/p>\n
