S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Curitiba, the capital of the state of Paran\u00e1, should host the 2010 International Innovative City Conference (CI-CI 2010) from March 10th to 13th. The event, promoted by the Federation of Industries of the State of Paran\u00e1 (Fiep), should receive over 70 specialists from several countries to discuss routes for more innovative and sustainable urban construction.<\/p>\n
Among the themes to be covered in the meetings are \u201cReforestation of Cities\u201d, \u201cReinvention of Governments through Cities\u201d, \u201cGovernance of Development of Cities\u201d, among others. The event should also bring successful experience in urban planning, sustainability, mobility, management and public policies.<\/p>\n
Representatives of over 50 cities, from 17 countries have confirmed presence in the CI-CI 2010. Among the international authorities to participate in the meetings are Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, Steve Johnson, the North American author of six best sellers which influenced urban planning of several cities, Pierre L\u00e9vy, a philosopher from Canada, Marc Giget, the founding director of the European Institute of Creative Strategies and Innovation of France, and Jeff Olson, a North American architect and urbanist.<\/p>\n
In total, 1,500 participants are expected during the four days of the conference. \u201cInnovation is the only route to build a sustainable society. And for Brazilian companies and the country to innovate, it is necessary, before anything, for our cities to be innovative,\u201d said FIEP president Rodrigo da Rocha Loures.<\/p>\n
CI-CI 2010 is promoted in partnership between the city halls of Curitiba, Lyon (France), Bangalore (India) and Austin (in the United States), with institutional support of the United Nations.<\/p>\n
