{"id":33939,"date":"2010-03-04T11:07:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-04T13:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/escaesco.com.br\/lab\/anba\/egyptomania-invades-museum-in-parana\/"},"modified":"2019-06-30T16:42:16","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T19:42:16","slug":"egyptomania-invades-museum-in-parana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/egyptomania-invades-museum-in-parana\/","title":{"rendered":"Egyptomania invades museum in Paran\u00e1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Toys, decorative items, pens, rubbers, teaching toys, films and other products inspired on Ancient Egypt were included in the Egyptomania exhibition, set up at the Egyptian and Rosicrucian Museum in Curitiba, Paran\u00e1, that may be visited up to late May.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe idea of the exhibition is to show how Ancient Egypt is still present, through contemporary creations,\u201d explained Vivian Tedardi, cultural supervisor at the Rosicrucian Order, the institute that owns the museum.<\/p>\n<p> <!--%IMGNOT1%-->Vivian explains that the exhibition brings together items from Brazil and abroad that have elements that bring to mind the time of the Pharaohs, like dolls of mummies and of Queen Cleopatra, for example. The objects are part of the personal collection of archaeologist Moacir Elias Santos.<\/p>\n<p> For those interested in a better understanding of what Egyptomania is, the museum is also promoting, on March 20th, at 3:00 pm, a roundtable with four specialists from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThey should speak about the new way of studying Ancient Egypt, which is analysing its elements in the present time,\u201d explained Vivian.<\/p>\n<p> The themes to be discussed will be: \u201cThe History of Egyptomania in Brazil (XIX, XX and XXI Centuries), \u201cPyramids of Ancient Egypt: Images in the Daily Life of Brazilians (XX and XXI Centuries)\u201d, \u201cEgyptomania Present in Illustrations in the Brazilian Press Through the Figure of the Sphinx (XX and XXI Centuries)\u201d and \u201cCleopatra: The Construction of a Myth\u201d.<\/p>\n<p> The Egyptian and Rosicrucian Museum, which celebrates its 20th anniversary on October 17th, promotes around four exhibitions a year.
