S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian participation in the Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition, between March 9th and 11th, in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, generated US$ 300,000 in business, according to figures disclosed yesterday (29) by the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Articles and Equipment (Abimo).<\/p>\n
\u201cBrazilian dentistry products have a very good reputation in the Middle East, maybe due to the activities of some companies that opened the market,\u201d said the international marketing manager at Abimo, Paula Portugal, who participated in the fair. She explained that some companies that participated in the fair already export to the region and are renowned, like Gnatus, Dabi Atlante, DFL and VIP.<\/p>\n
This was the fourth Abimo participation in the event and, according to Paula, Brazilian exhibitors managed to show that their products are good quality and competitively priced. Varied items were exhibited, from dentist chairs to drills, implants and even chemical products.<\/p>\n
Paula pointed out that 19 Brazilian companies participated this year, against 10 in the previous edition, which shows the interest of new companies in the market. According to the Abimo, the volume of business closed at the fair was 10 times greater than last year and the perspective of orders for the next 12 months is US$ 3 million.<\/p>\n
According to the association, over 1,000 contacts were made with businessmen from 47 countries, being 38% Arab. Paula added that all Brazilian companies have shown interest in returning at the next edition. \u201cIt was a very good fair, and was crowded,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The manager also said that the dentistry area is the only one among the sectors represented by Abimo that generates a trade balance surplus. According to figures supplied by the association, exports of the dentistry industry generate US$ 70.4 million in 2009, against imports of US$ 45.8 million.<\/p>\n
