Bras\u00edlia \u2013 The Brazilian trade surplus from January to March was US$ 895 million, a figure 70% lower than in the same period of 2009 (US$ 2.988 billion), informed today (1st) the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. During the period, exports totalled US$ 39.229 billion and imports, US$ 38.334 billion.<\/p>\n
In March, the trade surplus was US$ 668 million, as against US$ 1.756 billion in the same month of 2009.<\/p>\n
The result was reached despite a US$ 20 million deficit in the last week of the month. A deficit was also recorded in the third week of March, at US$ 48 million. The first, second and fourth weeks saw surpluses of US$ 500 million, US$ 82 million and US$ 154 million, respectively. <\/p>\n
Last month, exports totalled US$ 15.727 billion and imports, US$ 15.059 billion.<\/p>\n
