S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 One of the leading trade fairs for agribusiness in Latin America, Agrishow, due April 26th to 30th in the city of Ribeir\u00e3o Preto, in the interior of the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, will be attended by a Sudanese company. Representatives of the Tairab Agrobusiness Group will be among the 17 international buyers who will participate in the business roundtables promoted by the Brazilian Machinery Manufacturers Association (Abimaq).<\/p>\n
The international buyers, who will come to Brazil with support from the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), have meetings scheduled with Brazilian manufacturers of agricultural and irrigation equipment on the 27th and 28th. Last year, in the last edition of the event, a group from Sudan also took part in the fair and closed deals.<\/p>\n
According to the Sudanese ambassador to the Brazilian capital Bras\u00edlia, Abd Elghani Awad Elkarim, the Sudanese are growing increasingly aware of the technology and know how of Brazilian agricultural equipment and machinery, and that is why they are coming to the country more often.<\/p>\n
Aside from the Sudanese, the business roundtables will count on the participation of companies from South Africa, Angola, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Peru and Zambia. During the five days of the fair, 140,000 visitors and buyers from 50 different countries are expected, including farmers, cattle breeders, agroindustrial executives, researchers and other industry professionals. According to the organizers, the Agrishow should generate 860 million Brazilian real (US$ 488 million) in business deals. <\/p>\n
Over 700 exhibitors <\/b><\/p>\n
In order to adapt to the growing number of exhibitors, the Agrishow has increased its exhibition space by 50% compared with the previous edition, totalling 360,000 square metres. Over 700 exhibitors, from 45 countries, will present what is new in tractors, harvesters, lorries, agricultural implements, inputs, and other types of machinery and equipment.<\/p>\n
The 17th edition of the fair, which started being held in 1993, is organized and promoted by Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado, and is an initiative of the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (Abag), the Brazilian Machinery Manufacturers Association (Abimaq), the Brazilian National Fertilizer Association, and the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB).<\/p>\n
According to information from the website of the fair, Brazilian agribusiness accounts for 26% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 37% of jobs. The country is the world\u2019s leading exporter of coffee, orange juice, beef and poultry, sugarcane, tobacco and alcohol, which makes it the third largest agricultural exporter worldwide.<\/p>\n
