S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Jordanian ministers of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Tourism will be in Brazil this week for a series of meetings with Brazilian government officials and private sector representatives. The objective, according to the Jordanian ambassador in Bras\u00edlia (the Brazilian capital), Ramez Goussous, is to proceed with the agreements and actions that were kicked off during king Abdullah\u2019s visit to Brazil, in 2008, and president Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva\u2019s trip to the Arab country, in March this year.<\/p>\n
Jordan, in its part, is interested in the ethanol, biodiesel and aircraft industries, and in promoting bilateral tourism. This Monday (19th), in S\u00e3o Paulo, the minister of Industry and Trade, Amer Al-Hadidi, will attend meetings with representatives of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), and automaker Volkswagen.<\/p>\n
Embraer, for instance, wants to establish a warehouse of replacement parts in the Middle East, and the Jordanians want it to be set in their country. The Royal Jordanian airline already operates commercial jets by Embraer, and during a meeting with a Brazilian delegation late last year, king Abdullah II stated that his government is interested in purchasing military aircraft.<\/p>\n
Goussous claimed that, considering that the Brazilian industry wants to sell more in the region, Jordan is a good choice for establishing the warehouse, due to its political stability and strategic location.<\/p>\n
On her part, the minister of Tourism, Maha Khatib, is going to meet with representatives of the Brazilian Travel Agency Association (Abav) and of the Brazilian Tour Operators Association (Braztoa). The Jordan Tourism Board, which is the country\u2019s tourism promotion agency, already has a representative in Brazil. <\/p>\n
The Jordanian minister of Agriculture, Saeed Al-Masri, in turn, is going to meet with members of the Brazilian Machinery Manufacturers Association (Abimaq), of the S\u00e3o Paulo Sugarcane Agroindustry Union (Unica), and of Anfavea and Volks. Anfavea has agricultural machinery manufacturers among its affiliates. <\/p>\n
On Tuesday, the Jordanians will be in Bras\u00edlia to attend meetings with their Brazilian counterparts. The ministers\u2019 schedules in Brazil were organized by the governments of the two countries, with support from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/b>. <\/p>\n
