S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Kuwaiti prime minister, Nasser Mohamed Al-Sabah, said today (21st) that he sees great possibilities for investment in Brazil. The information was supplied by the president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/b>, Salim Taufic Schahin, who met with the Kuwaiti head of state in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo. Schahin gave the prime minister an overview of the Brazilian economy and investment needs. \u201cI told him, for instance, of opportunities in agribusiness and of the country\u2019s high productivity,\u201d he said. \u201cWe placed the Arab Brazilian Chamber at his disposal to help with investment-related issues,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
According to the president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, who was accompanied by the organization\u2019s Foreign Relations vice president, professor Helmi Nasr, the prime minister claimed that Brazil is a great country, and that it will become a world power. He displayed knowledge of the Brazilian industry and also spoke on the Amazon.<\/p>\n
Schahin underscored the importance of the community of Arab origin in Brazil and of president Lula\u2019s efforts to promote relations with the Arab world. He stated that in October, the Brazilian minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Miguel Jorge, is going to head a business mission to the Gulf countries, among them Kuwait.<\/p>\n
Sabah expressed satisfaction with the mission and, according to Nasr, he claimed that \u201cKuwait is very pleased to consolidate its relations with Brazil.\u201d The professor presented him with a copy of the Koran translated into Portuguese and a copy of the book \u201cNew World in the Tropics,\u201d by Gilberto Freyre, translated into Arabic. Both translations are his own. Schahin also talked about the Arab Brazilian Chamber\u2019s project for establishing the House of Arab Culture, in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n
