S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The legal cooperation agreement in civil law signed between Brazil and Morocco in September 2013 was approved by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Brazilian Senate last Thursday (3) and will be voted on by the plenary. The agreement provides for recognizing and enforcing judgments in civil matters, such as family law, commercial law, employment law, civil law, and civil procedural law. It also deals with access to justice, protection of minors, and marital status.<\/p>\n
The rapporteur of the Legislative Decree Project, senator Fernando Dueire (MDB, Pernambuco), stated to ANBA the agreement increases agility and strengthens the relationship between the Judiciary powers of both countries. \u201cIt encourages mutual trust in the institutions since this agreement promotes a system of recognition and enforcement of judicial sentences, being the first bilateral instrument signed in legal cooperation between both parties,\u201d said Dueire (pictured above)<\/em>.<\/p>\n Dueire also stated the document extends the partnership to other areas. \u201cIn the case of Brazil and Morocco, the agreement, in addition to guaranteeing the efficiency and effectiveness of judicial decisions and the execution of judicial sentences passed by the Brazilian and Moroccan Judiciary, will guarantee good diplomatic relations between the countries and the growth of future partnerships in different sectors,\u201d stated the senator.<\/p>\n The report the senator presented was approved and sent to the General Secretariat of the Senate Board and is waiting to be included in the Agenda.
