There, 15 canvases crafted by artists from the United Arab Emirates portray one of the primary forms of visual artistic expression of the Arab people. After S\u00e3o Paulo, the exhibition will move to other cities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_334599\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-334599\" style=\"width: 312px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-334599 \" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/caligrafia3-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"312\" height=\"234\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-334599\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The image formed on the canvas depends on the author\u2019s \u201cfeeling,\u201d according to expert Khalid Ali Al Jallaf <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the exhibition room, visitors can see works by some exponents of calligraphy, which seeks to represent the artist\u2019s feelings and expression through the graphic form of words. Many of the sayings represented by the calligraphy feature verses and quotes from the Quran, the holy book of Islam. Calligraphy has, since 2021, been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).<\/p>\n<p>The opening of the exhibition \u201cTreasures of Arabic calligraphy\u201d on Friday (25) had the presence of the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Bras\u00edlia, Saleh Ahmad Salem Alzaraim Alsuwaidi; the consul general of the UAE in S\u00e3o Paulo, Abdalla Yousif Abdalla Shaheen; and the directors of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), Riad Younes, Arthur Jafet and Mohamad Abdouni Neto, among other guests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we can build bridges in many ways. And one of them is through culture. Business is important, of course, and it brings results and revenue. But culture is something we support and creates long-lasting ties,\u201d said ambassador Alsuwaidi to ANBA. The exhibition was created on the initiative of the embassy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_334602\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-334602\" style=\"width: 211px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-334602 \" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/embaixador-emirados-caligrafia-4-450x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"281\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-334602\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Alsuwaidi: Art establishes lasting cultural ties<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the room \u201cTreasures of Arabic calligraphy,\u201d the canvases depict Arabic proverbs and excerpts from the Quran. One of them, by Taj Al Ser, represents the proverb, \u201cThe beauty of the word reflects the perfection of thought.\u201d Another, by Anwar al Halwani, has a verse from the Quran.<\/p>\n<p>According to the president of the Emirates Society for Arabic Calligraphy and Islamic Ornament, Khalid Ali Al Jallaf, one of the hallmarks of Arabic calligraphy is flexibility. Therefore, art can take many forms. \u201cEach canvas the artist makes is different because composition depends on feelings that day, mood, and humor,\u201d he said.\u201d \u201cArt is a way to promote <em>soft power<\/em>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday (26), Jallaf will conduct a calligraphy workshop at the Immigration Museum at 3:00 pm BRT.
