{"id":358836,"date":"2023-09-14T16:34:13","date_gmt":"2023-09-14T19:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/brazils-petrobras-unveils-offshore-wind-projects\/"},"modified":"2024-03-22T16:58:51","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T19:58:51","slug":"brazils-petrobras-unveils-offshore-wind-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/brazils-petrobras-unveils-offshore-wind-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Brazil\u2019s Petrobras unveils offshore wind projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian state-run oil firm on Wednesday (13) revealed it has issued a license request with Brazilian environmental protection agency Ibama for offshore wind projects in 10 areas totaling up to 23 gigawatts (GW) of capacity, in a bid to become a top wind power developer.<\/p>\n<p>The move follows the announcement of a partnership with motor maker WEG SA to develop 7-megawatt (MW) onshore wind turbine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are preparing Petrobras to become the largest developer of wind energy projects in Brazil,\u201d said Petrobras CEO Jean Paul Prates (<em>pictured<\/em>) at the 2023 Brazil Windpower Conference held on Wednesday in the S\u00e3o Paulo Expo.<\/p>\n<p>Seven areas are in the Northeast region (three in Rio Grande do Norte, three in Cear\u00e1 and one in Maranh\u00e3o), two in the Southeast (one in Rio de Janeiro and one in Esp\u00edrito Santo), and one in the South (Rio Grande do Sul).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Regulation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This type of request to Ibama does not secure the right to the areas, the CEO explained.
