S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazil\u2019s President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva published a statement on Wednesday (11) calling for the protection of Israeli and Palestinian children. \u201cI want to appeal to U.N. Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres and the international community for us to \u2013 together and urgently \u2013 use all available means to end the gravest violation of human rights in the conflict in the Middle East,\u201d Lula said. He said there\u2019s a urgent need for an international humanitarian intervention and a ceasefire to protect the children. He reaffirms Brazil\u2019s efforts as the rotating president of U.N. Security Council for the immediate and final end of the conflict and said his country will continue working for peace and in defense of human rights.<\/p>\n The federal government via its diplomacy has worked in rescuing Brazilians from the conflict zone. A first plane with 211 passengers has arrived in Brazil from Tel Aviv. Other five flights are expected to arrive by Sunday (15), Brazil\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. Two Brazilians, Bruna Valeanu and Ranani Nidejelski Glazer, died in the attacks.<\/p>\n The Foreign Ministry added that the Embassy in Tel Aviv keeps receiving information from Brazilians interested in returning to Brazil and that Brazil\u2019s Representative Office in Ramallah keeps in contact with the Brazilians in the Gaza Strip.
