According to information disclosed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil on Monday (30), two tonnes of foods will be shipped. <em>Pictured, truck crosses the Egyptian border with international donations. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>The ministry reports that the <strong>donation<\/strong> comes from the federal government and the civil society are provided by the Landless Workers Movement (MST). The supplies will be sent on a Brazilian Air Force plane that\u2019s expected to depart to Egypt on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations General Assembly passed on Friday (27) a non-binding resolution drafted by Arab states. The <strong>resolution<\/strong> is mainly focused on humanitarian relief and calls for the &#8220;the immediate and unconditional release of all civilians who are being illegally held captive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It passed to a round of applause with 121 votes in favor, while 44 abstained and 14 voted no. Brazil was in favor of the resolution, which contains various points of the project previously submitted by the Brazilian diplomacy to the <strong>UN Security Council<\/strong> that was vetoed by the United States, a permanent member.<\/p>\n<p>Monday afternoon will see the holding of an emergency meeting of the Security Council to address the war, featuring Brazilian Foreign minister Mauro Vieira. It will be yet another attempt to define measures to ensure the access of the population in Gaza to humanitarian relief and protect civilians. Brazil chairs the council until Tuesday (31).<\/p>\n<p>The federal government has repatriated several Brazilians that were in Israel by sending planes, but a group of citizens from the Latin American country is still in the Gaza Strip waiting for an out via the Egyptian border.
