S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Exports by Braspack to the Arab market began five years ago, to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Now, the Brazilian company that makes polystyrene packages and PVC film to protect perishable goods aims to increase sales to the region. The Arab countries are responsible for 10% of foreign sales by the company, which is installed in Suape industrial park, in Pernambuco.<\/p>\n
"The [Arab] market is very important and presents tendencies for growth in coming years," said the foreign trade manager at Braspack, Sidney Santos Moreira.<\/p>\n
According to him, the first contacts with Arab importers, all local distributors, were maintained during international sector fairs, like Interpack, in D\u00fcsseldorf, Germany, Pack Expo, in Chicago, USA, and Ipack Ima, in Milan, Italy.<\/p>\n
"International fairs are currently our main instrument for international prospection. However, after some time of business with the region, the main clients started seeking us directly," said Moreira.<\/p>\n
Today, the main importers from the company are in Central America and the United States. According to the manager, Braspack is controlled by the Argentine Implast group. The company was established in 1989 to operate as a representative office, but the need to make products in Brazil materialised to supply the growing demand. The first factory started operating in the early 1990s.<\/p>\n
In a little while, the first clients abroad materialised and production had to be expanded once again. In 2006, Braspack invested in the purchase of machinery from Spanish company AEP, the leader in the European market. According to figures disclosed by the company, the new technology made the company into the main producer of stretch PVC in Brazil, with 800 tonnes a month. <\/p>\n
Among the Braspack clients are fast food chains and supermarkets, bakeries, poultry producers, meat packaging plants and other food industries.<\/p>\n
