S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 A market of 203 million people, with falling unemployment and rising wage income. That is Brazil, the consumer market Arab exhibitors will showcase their food items to at Apas fair. The trade show will be held from May 13 to 16 in S\u00e3o Paulo. Industry business opportunities and information about the stand of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) at the event were presented on Tuesday (23) at an online seminar on the trade show.<\/p>\n\n\n

ABCC economist Sotirios Ghinis presented some data on Brazil to exhibitors who will come to the trade show \u2013 a market of 203 million people and an average income growth of 7.2% to USD 615.41 per month in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis set of factors makes the food and beverage industry optimistic on the future demand for food and beverage,\u201d said Ghinis. But he pointed out that prices in Brazil are high, which can be a challenge to exporters. \u201cAt the same time, rising food prices somewhat curbs the optimism as Brazilians are very sensitive to prices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supermarkets are the leading distribution channel of foods and beverages in Brazil, with a total market share at 55.5%. They are followed by cash and carry, which accounts for 33.5% of the market, wholesale at 4.9%, and drugstores, convenience stores, and e-commerce at less than 1% each. Arab countries can further tap into this potential in Brazil, Ghinis said. In 2023, Brazil imported USD 12.6 billion worth of foods and beverage, with USD 123.58 million being from Arab countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karen Mizuta, Head of International Consultancy of the ABCC, told the attendees that the ABCC is organizing sideline events like technical visits to supermarkets, food stores, and food and beverage trading posts. An event in the ABCC and a networking cocktail party are also scheduled to gather potential trade partners in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apas Show brings key players together <\/strong>in Brazil<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Apas Show is an industry show organized by the S\u00e3o Paulo Supermarket Association. Every year, it brings together major food and beverage companies. The ABCC will participate in the show with two stands, one in the White pavilion and another in the Blue pavilion of the exhibition complex Expo Center Norte in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The White pavilion\u2019s stand will feature food exhibitors from Egypt and Tunisia. The Blue\u2019s will have companies from the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Lebanon, besides Egypt and Tunisia. Overall, sixteen potential exporters from the Arab countries will be at the ABCC stands at Apas Show. \u201cThis is a unique opportunity to do business with Brazilians and translates the essence of the ABCC, which is connecting Brazilians and Arabs,\u201d said ABCC New Business Director Estev\u00e3o de Carvalho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Marketing and Events departments presented information on how they will work at the fair, as well as shutter information. Ghinis underscored that exhibitors are required to get licenses and certificates to bring their products, including samples, to Brazil.
