S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Oil and gas company Iesa \u00d3leo e G\u00e1s signed a protocol of intentions last week with the government of the state of Rio Grande do Sul for implementing an industrial unit in the municipality of Charqueadas. Iesa is an engineering, construction and assembly company that operates mainly in oil and gas, and the plant will have capacity for assembling up to 20 topside modules at once.<\/p>\n
A total of 20 million Brazilian reals (US$ ) will be invested in the unit and 1,200 direct and indirect jobs will be created. The plant will be located in an area of 300,000 square metres and construction work should start in March next year, according to information supplied by the government of the state. In addition to oil and gas, the company also operates in the chemicals and petrochemicals industry.<\/p>\n
According to the chairman of Iesa, Valdir Lima Carneiro, logistical factors have contributed to the choice of Charqueadas, because from there it is possible to sail to Rio Grande, where an oil rig manufacturing hub is located, at which the Quip company, a partner of Iesa’s , already operates. <\/p>\n
Iesa \u00d3leo e G\u00e1s was established in 2005, after having been a division of Iesa Projetos, Equipamentos e Montagens S.A. for a few years. It has been turned into a subsidiary. Iesa Projetos, in turn, was established in 2003 in the city of Araraquara, in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, after the Inepar group incorporated companies Sade Vigesa, in the electromechanical assembly field, Norton, for cryogenic equipment, FEM, a maker of offshore metallic structures, and Iesa Internacional de Engenharia, a plant project designer. <\/p>\n
Iesa \u00d3leo e G\u00e1s’ portfolio of works done includes gas plants in Maca\u00e9, Rio de Janeiro, and in Caraguatatuba, in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, refineries in Ipojuca, Pernambuco, and Duque de Caxias, Rio, as well as rigs in Santos, along the S\u00e3o Paulo coastline, and Rio Grande, a city in Rio Grande do Sul, among others.
