S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The office of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, will host Brazil\u2019s itinerant consulate on Friday (24) and Saturday (25), offering services there. The Embassy of Brazil in the country \u2013 which is located with its consular department in capital Abu Dhabi \u2013 took the measure to facilitate the service to Brazilian citizens living in Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a community of 10,000 Brazilians here in the UAE, and a major part of this community is associated to industries based in Dubai,\u201d Brazil\u2019s ambassador to the UAE, Sidney Leon Romeiro, told ANBA by the phone, mentioning civil aviation workers, liberal professionals like doctors, engineers and lawyers, and the staffs of approximately 30 to 40 Brazilian companies based in Dubai. \u201cDubai is a more economically thriving city, more connected to activities like entrepreneurship, trade and finance, while Abu Dhabi holds more government-related sectors,\u201d the ambassador said.<\/p>\n\n\n

The diplomat says the itinerant consulate has been adopted in the past, and we\u2019ll now be resumed. Depending on the experience, it\u2019ll be implemented more often, probably every two months, Romeiro says. Those living in Dubai or its neighboring emirates Ras Al-Khaimah and Sharjah who need Brazil\u2019s consular services currently have to go all the way to Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The iterant consulate will operate from 9am-6pm (Dubai time) by appointment. Citizens are expected to take the documents necessary and be seen at their appointed time. Consular services provided include passport renewal, birth and marriage certificates, and proof of residence. The service is aimed at both Brazilians and foreigners who are traveling or have ties to Brazil needing visas or other services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ambassador says the UAE is a fast-growing and very flourishing country. \u201cIt\u2019s a country boasting a strong economic and financial relevance not only in the region but the world, so it tends to attract more liberal and skilled professionals from Brazil, as it\u2019s been doing,\u201d says Romeiro. Therefore, he says, the Brazilian government has also invested to facilitate the adaptation and residence of these people in the country. \u201cIt\u2019s a workforce that contributes to Brazil\u2019s projection,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of the ABCC office in Dubai, Rafael Solimeo, says the institution collaborates to reinforce the relationship between Brazil and the Arab countries at all levels, including in matters related to the Brazilian communities across the region, and points out that businesspeople are also among those who may need consular services via Dubai, thus facilitating Brazil-UAE trade. \u201cI hope this is the first of many itinerant consulates in the ABCC,\u201d said Solimeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
