The highlights of the Monthly Industrial Research \u2013 Physical Regional Production, disclosed on Tuesday (7), were the states of Bahia, with growth of 5.4%, and of Esp\u00edrito Santo, where production grew 3.8%.<\/p>\n<p> In comparison with October 2009, industrial production expanded 2.1%, and in the accumulated result for the year, the growth was 11.8%, the same level as that accumulated over the last 12 months. According to the IBGE, the results for October show clear reduction in rhythm of industrial production as against the figures for the first and third quarters of 2010, in comparison with the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p> Rio de Janeiro, with 0.7%, and Minas Gerais, with 0.1%, presented the other two positive results for October. In the state of Santa Catarina, there was zero growth or retraction in industrial production, the same level as observed in September. The remaining areas posted negative results, with a 7.6% drop in Paran\u00e1, followed by Cear\u00e1 (-5.9%), Goi\u00e1s (-4.5%) and Amazonas (-3.3%). Other regions with reduction were Pernambuco (-0.6%), S\u00e3o Paulo (-0.5%) and the Northeast (-0.1%).<\/p>\n<p> When comparing October this year to the same month in 2009, the highlight in regional results was to growth of 20% in production in Goi\u00e1s, boosted mainly, according to the IBGE, by the food and beverage sector, and 11.4% in Esp\u00edrito Santo, attributed to the mining industry.<\/p>\n<p> <b>*Translated by Mark Ament<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brazilian industrial production grew in four of the 14 Brazilian states researched by the IBGE.
