S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Indumak, a maker of automatic packing and bundling machinery, installed in Jaragu\u00e1 do Sul, in the state of Santa Catarina, started exporting to Egypt in 2002. Next year, the company plans to choose new clients in the region.<\/p>\n
"We believe in the potential of the Arab market. Our sales are still small as we only export to Egypt, so we are trying to open new fronts in North Africa and also the Middle East," said export manager Priscila Fontana.<\/p>\n
According to her, Indumak started exporting in 1997, to the countries of Latin America, which remain the main destinations for company sales. Currently, the organisation’s exports answer to some 20% of annual revenues, estimated at 30 million Brazilian reals (US$ 18 million).<\/p>\n
The company was born a small workshop with a lathe in April 1963, but is now an important supplier of packing solutions, with over 2,500 clients in Brazil and abroad. The factory has a small unit, covering an area of 4,800 square meters, with average monthly production of 50 machines, generating 130 direct jobs.<\/p>\n
To guarantee new clients, especially on the foreign market, Indumak usually participates in fairs abroad through authorised representatives. This year, the company participated in Expocruz, in Santa Cruz de La Sierra, Bolivia, Expoalimentaria, in Peru, and Bogot\u00e1 International Fair, in Colombia.<\/p>\n
Industrial hub<\/b><\/p>\n
Jaragu\u00e1 do Sul, where Indumak is installed, is the main industrial hub in Santa Catarina and in southern Brazil, with privileged location, as it is close to two great ports, Itaja\u00ed and S\u00e3o Francisco do Sul, and has easy access to the main highways in the country.<\/p>\n
