The election took place in New York, the United States, during the 17th Session of Conference of States Parties to Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities, according to a press release from Brazil\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabrilli was chosen for the 2025-2028 term following a campaign supported by the ministry. A human rights expert and advocate for inclusion, particularly of persons with disabilities, Gabrilli will have her second term after being part of the committee from 2019 to 2022. The committee works on the implementation of the Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities and consists of independent experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brazil&#8217;s Mara Gabrilli joins other experts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Brazilian was one of the nine experts elected to serve on the 18-member panel. Besides Gabrilli, experts nominated by the Dominican Republic, the European Union, Jamaica, Japan, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria and Uruguay were also elected.
