S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Firms from Paran\u00e1 are part of the Halal do Brasil project, but the state could widen its participation after actions held in the cities of Curitiba and Londrina on Wednesday (19) and Thursday (20). The project aims to increase Brazilian halal good exports, with halal meaning fit for Muslim consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spearheaded by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/a> (ABCC) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil<\/a>), Halal do Brasil had a wide-ranging schedule in the past two days in Paran\u00e1 state that included the holding of seminars on halal in both cities, meetings with business and government leading figures, and visits to local firms.<\/p>\n\n\n

The businesspeople participating in the activities that aren\u2019t yet part of Halal do Brasil expressed a desire to join the project and participate in some of its next activities like the Buyer Project to take place in August in S\u00e3o Paulo and MIHAS exhibition in September in Malaysia. The first will bring Arab halal importers for B2Bs with Brazilians, while the latter is a halal trade show to feature an exhibiting area for Brazilian firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABCC internationalization project manager Fernanda Dantas, who participated in the events in Paran\u00e1 says the businesspeople from the state were very interested in the halal market and the project. Speaking with ANBA after the events, Dantas stressed the export maturity and mindset of the Paran\u00e1-based firms, as well as the support from agencies like Invest Paran\u00e1 and the Paran\u00e1 State Industries Federation (Fiep).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program of the Halal do Brasil project in Paran\u00e1 included seminars at the headquarters of Fiep in Curitiba and Fiep\u2019s Casa da Ind\u00fastria in Londrina, as well as talks with representatives from Fiep, Invest Paran\u00e1, the state\u2019s farm cooperative group OCEPAR, and visits to firms like Dr. Peanut<\/a>, Istambul<\/a> of sesame products, and Jaguafrangos of chicken meat. Jaguafrangos<\/a> presented its successful experience with halal at the seminar in Londrina, while coffee firm Mix Brasil Fit<\/a> spoke of its history with halal at the workshop in Curitiba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the seminars in Curitiba and Londrina, Fernanda Dantas presented the Halal do Brasil project and how companies can participate. ABCC market intelligence manager Marcus Vin\u00edcius spoke of the global halal market, while Omar Chahine, commercial director at certifier Fambras Halal, explained how the halal certification process works. The program also featured Karina Azevedo, sales executive at the ABCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
